FAQs

Who is eligible for services?

Anyone with a history of incarceration. While the first few weeks following release are critical in establishing healthcare, we understand that the re-entry process is on-going. We welcome anyone with a history of incarceration who requires support.

What if I don't have insurance?

We will work with you and our insurance enrollers to see if you are eligible for Medicaid or other forms of insurance. If necessary, we can assist with expenses prior to obtaining insurance.

What will I need to bring to my appointment?

An identification card is required at most clinics. If you do not have an ID please contact us and we will refer you to one of our partners to help you get your ID.

I was incarcerated in Angola State Penitentiary for sixty years. I make an appointment for a comprehensive physical after I'm freed. I was able to fill all of my prescriptions and receive referrals for counseling and therapy. Being visited by a doctor is quite uncommon when you are incarcerated, therefore the FIT Clinic truly helped me feel at ease. It gives me comfort to know that my medical issues will now be taken care of. The doctor that saw me for FIT was very sympathetic and compassionate. On this side of the walls, medicine seems differently. I'm happy to have medical professionals in my life who don't stigmatize me due to my imprisonment. Whatever life I have to live after 60 yrs I want to at least know that I am healthy moving forward.
