Towards a Healthier Us: October Topic — Brain Health

This is part of a monthly series of wellness sessions we hold at Voice of the Experienced (VOTE) on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6-8pm. This month’s topic is brain aging and dementia. Dinner will be served at the start of the session. Dr. Dona Murphy will be giving a talk on this topic. After that we will have Jennifer Vitry discuss nutrition alongside Chef Taylor who will be doing a cooking demonstration. Ms. Puett from the Tulane Brain Institute is a social worker who will discuss resources within the community individuals can access. After that we will finish off our presentations with Vid Raturi leading us in a mindfulness/meditation practice. During the second half of our wellness sessions, we have a resource fair. This session we will have Tulane University School of Medicine students providing blood pressure and glucose screening, Xavier University College of Pharmacy students providing medication overviews, Mr. Mack and FitFam providing information of physical fitness and personal training, Jennifer Vitry providing guidance on nutrition, and Ms. Kari doing acupuncture. We hope to see you there!
